A Photographer enchanted by nature
Hi, I’m Mark Swanson, a Texas-based photographer with a passion for travel, constantly exploring and capturing the Earth's most breathtaking moments.
ABOUT MARK
After a fulfilling career in law enforcement and often as a designated aerial surveillance photographer, I retired to fully embrace my lifelong passion for photography. My love for the outdoors and adventure naturally led me to combine those experiences with my camera, capturing the beauty I encounter along the way. Montana, with its towering mountains, stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife, and expansive “big sky,” has become a particularly cherished destination. Drawn to its grandeur, I’ve spent countless trips photographing the state’s breathtaking scenery.
When I’m not behind the lens, you’ll find me skiing, climbing, hiking, backpacking, cycling, or fly fishing—always seeking new adventures in nature. Whether out on a shoot or immersed in an outdoor activity, being in the wilderness away from everyday distractions is where I feel most at home.
I’m especially passionate about capturing wildlife, landscapes, and action-packed sports moments. The thrill of landing a great shot is amplified when I get to share it with friends and family. Photography not only fuels my sense of exploration, but it also deepens my connection to the world around me, inspiring new journeys and creative pursuits.
MY TRAVEL SCHEDULE
PATAGONIa
I am traveling to Chilean Patagonia to photograph the peaks of Torres del Paine. I’ll focus on the local pampa wildlife, like guanacos, and the Salto Grande waterfall. From the granite Cuernos to the blue glacial lakes, I want to capture the raw beauty of this remote region.
TEXAS COAST
I am joining Backcountry Journeys on the Texas Gulf Coast for a bird photography safari. We will explore the coastal salt marshes and rookeries around Rockport. I will focus on capturing roseate spoonbills, herons, and egrets in their wetland habitats, documenting the diverse avian life found throughout this southern region.
MONTANA
I am heading to Wolf Creek, just north of Helena, to photograph and fish the Missouri River. This stretch is known for its blue-ribbon trout waters and scenic canyon views. I plan to capture various river boats and fish against the backdrop of the Big Belt Mountains while fishing the local waters.
